Abstract:
A process for isomerization of alkyl Grignard reagents, by which easily available alkyl Grignard reagents can be easily and efficiently isomerized into alkyl Grignard reagents different from the starting ones in the position in the alkyl at which the magnesium atom is attached to the alkyl. The process is characterized by making both a transition metal compound and a phosphorus compound act on an alkyl Grignard reagent to isomerize the alkyl Grignard reagent. Two or more transition metal compounds selected from among the compounds of Group 7 to 12 elements of the periodic table can be used as the above transition metal compound and both an iron compound and a copper compound may be used as the above transition metal compound.
