Abstract:
A process for producing a polyprenol derivative represented by general formula (II) (wherein Y and Z each represents hydrogen or are bonded to each other to represent a carbon-carbon bond; n is an integer of 0 or larger; and R?2¿ represents hydrogen or a hydroxyl-protecting group), which comprises bringing an allyl halide compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein V represents halogeno and W and X are bonded to each other to represent a carbon-carbon bond, or X represents halogeno and V and W are bonded to each other to represent a carbon-carbon bond; Y and Z are the same as defined above; R?1¿ represents hydrogen or a hydroxyl-protecting group; and n is the same as defined above) into contact with an aluminum compound represented by general formula (III) M?1¿AlH¿p?L?1¿¿4-p? (wherein M?1¿ represents an alkali metal; L?1¿ represents alkyl or alkoxyl; and p is an integer of 1 to 4) or with a boron compound represented by general formula (IV) M?2¿BH¿q?L?2¿¿4-q? (wherein M?2¿ represents an alkali metal; L?2¿ represents alkyl, alkoxyl, acyloxy, or cyano; and q is an integer of 1 to 3). Thus, the polyprenol derivative can be industrially advantageously produced efficiently in high yield with high selectivity under mild conditions.
