Title:
PROCESSES FOR PRODUCING 3-SUBSTITUTED 2-CHLORO-5FLUOROPYRIDINE OR SALT THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/099149
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Processes for producing in high yield a 3-substituted 2-chloro-5-fluoropyridine or salt thereof from an easily available material through a short step under mild reaction conditions using a reagent which can be reacted by a simple procedure and is easy to handle. One of the processes is a process for producing the compound (2) shown below or a salt thereof which comprises reducing the compound (1) shown below or a salt thereof selectively at the 6-position chlorine atom. The other is a process for producing the compound (4) shown below or a salt thereof which comprises replacing the group Z1 of the compound (2) or salt obtained by the reduction reaction with the group Z2. In the following formulae, Z1 represents -CO2R1, etc., wherein R1 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, or cycloalkyl; and Z2 is a group different from Z1 and represents -CO2R5, etc., wherein R5 represents alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, or cycloalkyl.
