Title:
RAZOR BLADE SHARPENER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/052228
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The principal of the invention is that a Ferro or an electro magnet can be used to sharpen a razor blade by polarizing the metal particles causing the blade to stay sharp and thereby extending the life of the razor blade up to six times, depending on the quality of the blade.

CLAIMS

Claim One

An applied magnetic field to the razor blade change the length of a Ferro magnetic material of which the razor blade is made, in the direction of magnetization due to or the changing of a material's physical dimensions.

In response to changing its magnetization a magnetostrictive material will change shape when it is subjected to a magnetic field, meaning the blade that deformed during use will be returned to its original shape, causing it to stay sharp for an extended period.

The above is accomplished by placing a razor on a device as per the attached diagrams, whereby the razor blade is placed in a perpendicular position to the magnetic field, parallel to the magnetic field lines.

Claim Two

Bacteria can grow very quickly: some double their numbers every 20 minutes, and this, combined with their ability to adapt to novel food sources makes them relatively easy to exploit.

Bacteria are also social creatures, and many have developed a property known as 'quorum sensing'. This simply means that they behave differently when they're on their own, compared to being in a crowd of similar bacteria.

Experiments showed that bacteria growth in a magnetic field was affected and filamentous growth of the bacteria occurred Bacterial cells stopped dividing 1 to 2 hours after been placed in a magnetic field and that the cells started to elongate in that time, forming long filaments.

By placing the razor in a magnetic field can negatively influence the Bacterial growth in the razor.

Claim Three

Placing a blunt razor blade that has not been used in the stay sharp process as described in Claim One will cause the blade to sharpen and it can then be reused.

Description:

DESCRIPTION

RAZOR BLADE SHARPENER

Definitions

Magnetic field

A magnetic field is generated when electric charge carriers such as electrons move through space or within an electrical conductor.

Magetization

It is the increase in Magnetic flux due to the insertion of a given material into a magnetic field of certain strength.

Given' 'material

A Ferro or Ferromagnetic material

Magnetic Domain

A region in a Ferro or Ferromagnetic material in which all magnetic dipoles are aligned.

Magnetostriction

The change in length in a Ferro magnetic material in the direction of magnetization due to an applied magnetic field or the changing of a material's physical dimensions in response to changing its magnetization meaning a magnetostrictive material will change shape when it is subjected to a magnetic field.

Electro Magnet

A magnet produced with alternating current goes through a conductor around a soft metal.

Bacteria

Bacteria are very small living organisms made of only one cell. They are present just about everywhere: the air, the soil, and the skin and razors. Many of them are microbes that cause diseases (rhinitis, listeriosis, and others),

Description

The applied magnetic field to the razor blade change the length of the Ferro magnetic material of which the razor blade consists, in the direction of magnetization due to or the changing of a material's physical dimensions.

The process of sharpening the blade requires extended exposure of the blade to the magnetic field to acquire the desired result. Ideally the razor blade is left on the razor blade sharpener device for the period between uses. That is normally twenty four hours.
