Abstract:
The present invention is to ensure the quality of real-time multimedia data transmission. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for ensuring the quality of real-time multimedia data transmission using virtual slots in a MAC layer of a communication network. The present invention can prevent quality degradation of priority content data and can ensure quality of service (QoS) by allocating the virtual slots in a period corresponding to the QoS of the priority content data and adjusting transmission periods of data to be transmitted in the remaining terminals excluding a terminal for transmitting the priority content data, when the transmission of periodic priority content data is required. Meanwhile, the present invention enables other terminals to selectively transmit the data in consideration of a tolerance range of a transmission jitter, and can ensure the QoS and can prevent throughput degradation of the entire network by flexibly operating the terminals or the virtual slots for transmitting the priority content data.
