Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing a highly safe high-quality refined essential oil at a high level of productivity by removing contaminants from an essential oil containing harmful contaminants, such as agricultural chemicals, easily and smoothly at a high removal rate without destroying the balance or reducing the intensity of flavor intrinsic to the essential oil. The method manufactures a refined essential oil by removing contaminants by treating an essential oil containing contaminants using activated carbon. When chemically activated carbon, in particular carbon activated using zinc chloride, is used for the treatment, and when the treatment is carried out at room temperature or lower, in particular at -25°C to 5°C, the contaminant removal efficiency can be further improved.
