Abstract:
A method for allocating resources in a multi-CPU system and a resource manager. The resource manager divides resources in a system into a global resource pool and more than two local resource pools; the local resource pools have one-to-one correspondence to CPUs; the resource manager receives a resource application request sent by a first CPU; determine a current mode of the global resource pool; allocate resources for the first CPU from the global resource pool when the global resource pool is in a centralized mode. Allocable resources in the system are in the global resource pool when the global resource pool is in a centralized mode. During resource shortage, the resource manager centralizes the allocable resources in the system to the global resource pool, so that it can be ensured that the resource manager can perform unified allocation in the global resource pool when the CPUs apply for resources, thereby improving usage efficiency of system resources.
