Abstract:
Provided is a rotary damper which can ensure the rotational range of the rotor even though the size of the rotary damper is reduced and can be attached to a wide variety of rotary mechanisms. The rotary damper (100) is equipped with a housing (101) and a rotor (110). The housing (101) is equipped with two plate-shaped stationary vanes (104, 105) on a circumferential surface. The stationary vanes (104, 105) are configured such that both side walls at the tip-end portion of the stationary vanes (104, 105) are slanting surfaces which slant inward toward the tip-end portion in the thickness direction. The rotor (110) is equipped with two movable vanes (115, 116) on the outer surface of a shaft body (111). The movable vanes (115, 116) are configured such that both side walls at the tip-end portion of the stationary vanes (104, 105) are slanting surfaces which slant inward toward the tip-end portion in the thickness direction. The rotor (110) rotates until a portion of a base section of the movable vanes (115, 116) enters a region of stationary vane relief portions (104b, 105b) that is notched to form a recessed shape.
