A rotating electric machine includes a rotatably installed shaft (58), a rotor (10) having formed in it receiving holes (24A) capable of receiving permanent magnets (31), having the permanent magnets (31) received in the receiving holes (24A), and fixed to the shaft (58), a stator facing the rotor (10) and having coils, end plates (29) provided at axial ends of the rotor (10), refrigerant paths (43) formed in the end plates (29) and through which refrigerant can flow via axial ends of the permanent magnets (31), and discharge openings (44) located on the inner side, relative to the radial direction of the rotor (10), of target cooling sections (R) that include the permanent magnets (31), communicating with the refrigerant paths (43), and capable of discharging the refrigerant, the target cooling regions (R) being each located in the rotor (10) at a portion extending from a radially inner end (P1) of a permanent magnet (31) to the outer peripheral side of the rotor (10).
