Abstract:
Disclosed is a scan-type image display device provided with a light source (1) which emits a laser beam, a scan mirror (3) for two-dimensionally scanning the laser beam at prescribed scan frequencies in a first direction and in a second direction crossing the first direction, a frame buffer (5) that temporarily stores, for each frame, image data corresponding to an image to be displayed on a display screen, and a display control unit (4) which uses the image data to generate, at a prescribed frame frequency, display data for modulating the intensity of the laser beam, and which causes a laser beam, intensity-modulated on the basis of the display data, to be emitted from the light source. The frame buffer is configured to be capable of storing temporarily and reading the image data of different frames; the display control unit reads the image data for the multiple frames from the frame buffer and switches between the frames of the image data used for display data generation in synchrony with the scan period of the scan mirror.
