Abstract:
The present invention suppresses the occurrence of internal shorting. Provided is a secondary battery in which: a positive electrode has, on a band-form positive electrode foil, a positive electrode active material covered part in which a positive electrode active material layer is covered and a positive electrode active material non-covered part; a negative electrode has, on a band-form negative electrode foil, a negative electrode active material covered part in which a negative electrode active material layer is covered and a negative electrode active material non-covered part extending in at least the long-axis direction of the negative electrode foil; the positive electrode active material non-covered part is joined to a positive electrode collector plate at one end section of an electrode wound body; the negative electrode active material non-covered part is joined to a negative electrode collector plate at the other end section of the electrode wound body; the electrode wound body has a flat surface, which is formed by folding one or both of the positive electrode active material non-covered part and the negative electrode active material non-covered part toward the central axis of the wound structure so as to overlap, and a groove that is formed in the flat surface; and, in a cross-sectional view of a cross-section in which at least the positive-electrode side of the electrode wound body is sectioned at a plane that includes the central axis, the end sections of a separator positioned at least on both sides of an innermost-periphery-side negative electrode, which is a portion of the negative electrode that is positioned at the innermost-periphery side, are mutually joined to each other.
