Abstract:
A shopping cart and a check-out lane which enable the shopping to be done without receiving a weight load throughout a route starting with shopping and ending after payment at a checkout, the shopping cart (17) comprising a cross-sectionally rectangular shopping basket support frame (13) one side of which is opened so that three side portions of a flange provided at an upper portion of a shopping basket (16) can be supported thereon, a pivotable member (14) provided at a lower portion of the frame (13), capable of holding a lower portion of the shopping basket (16) and supported pivotably at an intermediate portion thereof, and a driving element (14c) extending downward from the intermediate portion of the pivotable member, the check-out lane (18) comprising a pressure member (22) contacting the driving element (14c) of the pivotable member (14) of the shopping cart (17) and adapted to turn the pivotable member (14) via the driving element (14c), and a recess (20) formed in a top plate (19) thereof and permitting the shopping cart (17) to be brought alongside an edge portion of the same recess.
