A shuttle cart positioning method and a shelf system. The shuttle cart positioning method comprises: controlling a shuttle cart (2) to reach a cargo pickup location (B) corresponding to a target cargo location (A), and at this time, the target cargo location being located at the lateral side of the shuttle cart; controlling a first sensor (31) and a second sensor (32) to detect a cargo (4) at the target cargo location; if only the first sensor detects the cargo, controlling the shuttle cart to move in a direction from the second sensor to the first sensor until the first sensor cannot detect the cargo and the second sensor cannot detect the cargo, and completing positioning of the shuttle cart; if only the second sensor detects the cargo, controlling the shuttle cart to move in a direction from the first sensor to the second sensor until the second sensor cannot detect the cargo and the first sensor cannot detect the cargo, and completing the positioning of the shuttle cart. Under the condition that the cargo is shifted, the position of the shuttle cart at the cargo pickup location can be adjusted to avoid collision between the shuttle cart and the cargo, realizing normal cargo pickup.
