Abstract:
The invention relates to light signalling equipment for aerodromes and landing sites for helicopters and is aimed at ensuring the visual landing of helicopter or the visual final stage of landing of a plane, including touchdown and the landing run, as well as the takeoff of a plane at night or in poor visibility conditions. The invention also makes it possible to control airplane traffic on the tarmac and to ensure light-marking of high obstacles in the airport area. The inventive signal lighting method comprises a step in which landing light corridor and/or fixed light points are created by means of infra-red lighting for runways and/or landing sites and/or high obstacles in the airport area. According to the invention, the surfaces of such sites or objects contain an anti-Stokes luminescent compound which has the form of a crystal structure, whereby the crystal lattice of said structure contains atoms of at least three rare earth elements. The invention makes it possible to increase the reliability of the signal lighting method and to ensure the masking of the aerodrome. Moreover, any confusion between traffic lights and any other source of light is excluded.
