Abstract:
The present invention provides a spring powered wheelbarrow (10) with a manually powered drive assembly (60). A foot crank (70) is used by the user to manually wind a spring (140) through a system of shafts (80, 130) and sprockets (90, 100, 120) in a first direction. By releasing a brake upon a front wheel (35) of the wheelbarrow (10), the wound spring (140) transfers a rotational movement in a second direction from a spring shaft (130) to a freewheel sprocket (36) adjacent to the front wheel (35), the rotational movement urging the front wheel (35) to rotate in a direction that assists the user in pushing the wheelbarrow (10).
