Abstract:
[Problem] To adequately detect stern waves generated by a sailing ship. [Solution] A stern-wave detection device (10b) is configured, which is provided with: a derivation unit (11) for deriving wave-crest velocity vectors, i.e. velocity vectors of wave crests on a water surface at each point in a prescribed range; and a stern-wave detection unit (12) for detecting a plurality of stern-wave velocity vectors by setting, as stern-wave velocity vectors caused by a pair of stern waves generated at a rear of a ship sailing on water, a pair of wave-crest velocity vectors which each face a direction within a prescribed angular range centred on a direction opposite to the orientation of a counterpart wave-crest velocity vector, and which have a speed at least a prescribed value greater than a reference value based on the speed of wave-crest velocity vectors at other points, said pair of wave-crest velocity vectors being from among the wave-crest velocity vectors at each point that are derived by the derivation unit (11).
