Abstract:

A storage system is provided with a distributed storage processing means which stores multiple fragment data in a distributed manner in multiple storage means, a data placement monitoring means which monitors the data placement state of the fragment data and stores data placement information indicating the data placement state, and a data reconstructing means which, when the storage means is down, regenerates the fragment data stored in the storage means that is down on the basis of another fragment data stored in the storage means different therefrom, and stores the regenerated fragment data in the different storage means, and further provided with a data placement restoring means which, when the storage means that is down is restored, restores the data placement of the fragment data by using the fragment data stored in the restored storage means in such a manner that the data placement is in the data placement state indicated by the data placement information stored by the data placement monitoring means.
