Abstract:
Provided is a support mechanism for a heavy structure that is capable of accommodating thermal expansion and deformation of the structural members of a device being operated at high temperatures. This support mechanism (SA), which supports a heavy structure by suspending the structure, is equipped with: fixed pulleys (115) that are affixed to the inner walls of a package (9) housing the structure to be supported, and movable pulleys (119) that move in concert with these fixed pulleys; ropelike connecting members (103), one end of each of which is connected to the aforementioned structure, with said connecting members being wound on the fixed pulleys and the movable pulleys in a movable manner; and counterweight units (109), one end of each of which is attached to the other end of the ropelike connecting members, with the counterweight units supporting the aforementioned heavy structure by means of the weight of counterweights (CW), the weight of which can be adjusted. The counterweight units (109) are provided with hoisting machines (143) that position the heavy structure upward, from a normal support position to a raised position.
