Abstract:
The present invention provides a surface coated cutting tool (10) having the excellent adhesion strength between a base (1) and a coating film (2), and excellent abrasion resistance. This surface coated cutting tool (10) is characterized in that, assuming that a point (a) represents a point separated from a cutting tip ridge line (5) in the direction of a cutting face (3) by the distance (La), a point (b) represents a point separated from the cutting tip ridge line (5) in the direction of a flank (4) by the distance (Lb), and a point (a') and a point (b') represent points vertically taken down on a surface of the base (1) from the point (a) and the point (b), respectively, 2 to 7 cracks with the width of 200 nm or less are present on a region with the size of 10 μm in the surface of the base (1) from the point (a') to the point (b'), or 2 to 10 pores are present around the length of 10 μm in the surface of the base (1) from the point (a') to the point (b'). Each pore is a hollow with the diameter gradually decreasing toward an interface between the base (1) and the coating film (2), and the diameter of the pore on the interface is 0.08 to 3 μm.
