Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system for displaying figures of a patent document by using margins, wherein reference numerals are recognized from the figures of the patent document, and descriptions of the reference numerals are extracted from text content of the patent document and displayed on a screen, the descriptions of the reference numerals being disposed in the margins of the figures. The system comprises: a figure acquisition unit for acquiring figures of a patent document and displaying each of the figures (hereinafter, corresponding figures) on a screen; a reference numeral detection unit for detecting reference numerals and the positions thereof from the corresponding figures; a reference numeral description extraction unit for extracting numeral descriptions of the reference numerals with reference to the detailed description of the patent document; a margin detection unit for detecting margin areas in the figures; and a reference numeral description arrangement unit for arranging the descriptions of the reference numerals in the margin areas. According to the system described above, the descriptions of the reference numerals of the figures are arranged in the on-screen margins of the figures so that the descriptions of the reference numerals do not cover figure images, thus making it possible to accurately comprehend the figures and the descriptions at a glance.
