Abstract:
A transmission (5) for a vehicle has a main shaft (51) and a counter shaft (53), which are supported on a transmission case (46) by bearings (35, 37). Gears on the main shaft and gears on the counter shaft include: shifter gears (62..., 65...) which are not rotatable relative to each other and which are axially movable; and stationary gears (60, 64..., 63, 67...) which are rotatable relative to each other and which are not axially movable. Dog clutches (55, 56..., 57, 58...) are provided between the shifter gears and the stationary gears, and the outer races (35b, 37b) of the bearings which support the main shaft and the counter shaft are affixed to the transmission case. Vibration-absorbing elastic members (100, 110) are pressed against the outer races from the outside axially, and the volume of the vibration-absorbing elastic members is set to 50% or more of the volume of the outer races. As a result of this configuration, the vibration of the bearings on both the main shaft and the counter shaft of the transmission is attenuated, and striking noise caused by shifting is reduced.
