Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an ultraviolet light irradiation system that is capable of performing sterilization or the like in a short period of time and that has a P-MP configuration with which ultraviolet-light irradiation of individual irradiation areas can be controlled in accordance with avoidance-target presence/absence results; and a control method therefor. An ultraviolet light irradiation system 301 according to the present invention includes: an ultraviolet light source unit 11 that generates ultraviolet light; N (N is a natural number equal to or greater than 2) irradiation units 13 that irradiate N irradiation target areas AR with the ultraviolet light; a sensor unit 31 that detects whether an avoidance target H, exposure of which to the ultraviolet light should be avoided, is present in a region containing the irradiation target areas AR; a light distribution unit 12-6 that distributes the ultraviolet light to pathways 14 leading to the respective irradiation units 13; and a control unit 15-6 that causes the ultraviolet light to be radiated onto the irradiation target areas AR from the irradiation units 13 in the case in which the avoidance target H is not present in the irradiation target areas AR.
