Abstract:
A vibration-proof structure (A) for protecting an upper structure against the earthquake energy and traffic vibrations by placing and supporting an upper structure on a base structure so that the upper structure can be horizontally moved and increasing the natural vibration cycle of the upper structure. A load support body (11), which consists of an elastic body, a visco-elastic body and a viscous body which do not substantially exhibit rigidity by themselves, is encircled with a restraining member (12) to prevent the support body (11) from bulging toward its outer circumferential surface. This enables a high vertical rigidity to develop in the support body (11) with its deformability maintained, and the vibration energy is absorbed by the frictional damping effect between the load support member (11) and the restraining member (12).
