Abstract:
Provided are a video call method and a related device. The method comprises: a first electronic device acquiring a request for a video call task that is sent by a third electronic device; the first electronic device detecting that the first electronic device is not currently configured with a camera; the first electronic device establishing a voice call task with the third electronic device; the first electronic device sending a probe frame to an external camera, wherein the external camera is in a state in which same is not connected to the first electronic device, a communication module of the external camera is powered on during the process of the external camera approaching the first electronic device, the external camera acquires the probe frame, and the external camera sends a response frame to the first electronic device, the response frame being a response to the probe frame; and the first electronic device switching the voice call task to a video call task, the video call task being a video call task between the first electronic device and the third electronic device. By means of the method, a waiting time for a video call between users can be shortened.
