[Problem] To provide: a viscosity adjusting agent which ameliorates the deterioration in handling properties and coating properties associated with the activation of a viscosity adjusting agent when used in a curable composition manufactured under low temperature conditions, and which makes it possible to reduce energy consumption; and a curable composition which contains the viscosity adjusting agent. [Solution] Provided is a viscosity adjusting agent for a curable composition, said viscosity adjusting agent containing: a diamide compound (A) obtained by subjecting a diamine component (A1) and a monocarboxylic acid component (A2) to a condensation reaction and/or a hardened castor oil (A'); and a polyamide compound (B) obtained by subjecting an amine component (B1) and a carboxylic acid component (B2) to a polycondensation reaction. The diamine component (A1) is selected from the group consisting of C2-12 diamines. The monocarboxylic acid component (A2) is selected from the group consisting of hydrogenated castor oil fatty acids and straight-chain saturated fatty acids. The polyamide compound (B) has a weight average molecular weight of 2,000-21,000. The cured product of the curable composition is used as a sealant or an adhesive.
