Abstract:
The exhaust system comprises an exhaust pipe (9), an exhaust catalyst chamber (13) and a catalytic element (15) for removal of nitrogen oxides mounted in the exhaust system (9). A recycling line (23) is directly or indirectly connected to the exhaust system (9) to recycle a fraction of the exhaust gases. A cooling heat exchanger for the exhaust gases (17) allows simultaneous cooling of the recycled and the non-recycled fraction of the exhaust gases. The above finds application in motor vehicle engines.
