To have sufficient strength, to obtain a desired frictional property, and to suppress scattering of abrasion powder into the atmosphere, when forming a brake pad by using a non-fired ceramic.SOLUTION: A non-fired ceramic friction material in an embodiment includes a matrix formed by bonding and solidifying mutually, through an adhesive layer, ceramic grains obtained by collecting grains having an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 μm or less at a collection efficiency of 50% or less, which are ceramic grains constituted of either of silicic acid and a silicate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
