Abstract:
To make it possible to increase the degree of freedom in layout of a detection member that detects the position of an opening/closing member in an apparatus body.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an opening/closing member that is rotatable on an axis with respect to an apparatus body so as to take a closed position and an open position with respect to the apparatus body; a lock mechanism that holds the opening/closing member at the closed position; and a detection member that detects the position of the opening/closing member. The lock mechanism has, in the apparatus body, a connection part that connects a first engaging part provided at one end in the axial direction with a second engaging part provided at the other end, and in the opening/closing member, a first part to be engaged provided at one end in the axial direction and a second part to be engaged provided at the other end. In a state where the opening/closing member is located at the closed position and locked by the lock mechanism, the engagement width between the second engaging part and the second part to be engaged is configured to be larger than the engagement width between the first engaging part and the first part to be engaged, and the detection member is provided at a position closer to the second engaging part than the first engaging part in the axial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
