Abstract:
To solve such a problem that a handwritten OCR engine may fail in cutting out character rows and the accuracy in recognizing handwritten characters may deteriorate, in a case where each character row consists of multiple handwritten characters on a document or the like and respective character rows do not match with each other in vertical start position and height.SOLUTION: An image processing system acquires a scanned image of a document containing handwritten characters, and extracts pixels of the handwritten characters from pixels of the acquired scanned image to generate an extraction image of the handwritten characters. Then, the image processing system estimates a handwritten section, which is an area including the handwritten characters, from pixels of the extraction image, determines a handwritten section of the extraction image based on the estimated handwritten section, and performs OCR processing on the handwritten section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
