Abstract:
PURPOSE:To minimize moire when plural color prints are printed while being overlapped with each other by generating automatically a multi-unit type dot pattern having accurate screen angle and gradation number on request. CONSTITUTION:A constant decision means 101 uses an inputted screen angle 105 and an inputted gradation number 106 to obtain a period constant 107 and the number of sub-dots 108 and provides the output of them. A main dot shape decision means 102 receives the period constant 107 to generate and output a square grating 109. A sub-dot generating means 103 receives a standard pattern function 110, the square grating 109, the period constant 107 and the number 108 of sub-dots and generates and outputs an initial dot pattern 111 and a sub- dot identification pattern 112 having an area of one sub-dot as an identified flag value. A threshold level optimizing means 104 receives the patterns 111, 112 and optimizes the threshold level of the pattern 111 so as to attain smooth halftone expression for each sub-dot by referencing to the pattern 112 to provide the output of a final dot pattern 113.
