Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject surface treating agent capable of preventing sputter of a steel material to be welded from sticking thereto by dissolving a specific inorganic or organic metal salt, water-soluble binder and surfactant in water. CONSTITUTION:The objective surface treating agent obtained by dissolving a mixture consisting of (A) >=5% (preferably 10 to 50%) inorganic metal salt (e.g. calcium nitrate, sodium carbonate or potassium sulfate) or an organic metal salt (e.g. sodium citrate, sodium benzoate or potassium propionate) having solubility >=5 and m.p. >=300 deg.C (preferably >=400 deg.C), (B) a water-soluble binder, such as PVA, CMC or casein, and (C) a surfactant, such as polyethylene glycol alkyl ether or dialkyl sulfosuccinate, in water.
