Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an antibacterial monomer containing (meth)acryloyl aminophenyl boric acid as a principal component useful for a dental adhesive or a filler. CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I (R1 is H or CH3 ), e.g. 2-(meth)acryloyl aminophenyl boric acid. The compound of the formula I is obtained by reacting a 2-, 3-, 4-aminophenyl boric acid expressed by formula II (R1 is H or CH3 ) with (meth)acrylic acid chloride expressed by formula III. The compound of the formula I has antibacterial activities against both of Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria and may be copolymerized with a (meth)acrylic acid or its ester, etc., by radical polymerization.
