Abstract:
The screw press has a sieve type cover (32,34) through which fluids can pass but solids cannot. In the pressing zone (28) outside the sieve, the sieve can be moved axially to alter the effective pressing zone length. The sieve can be set between a zero position for emptying the press, in which the effective length of the press zone is zero, and a working position. The greatest possible distance between the zero position and a max. working position for the sieve in the press zone is at least 0.5-1 times the external dia. of the screw (14) on the screw shaft (12). It may be possible to move the sieve continuously in the vicinity of the pressing zone.
