Abstract:
Liquid crystal displays of in-plane switching mode made by using high-permittivity liquid crystals had a problem of causing light leakage in the peripheries of bead spacers. In order to solve this problem, the invention provides a composition for liquid crystal aligning layers to be used in the production of liquid crystal displays of in-plane switching mode, that is, a composition for liquid crystal aligning layers, characterized by containing a polyamic acid prepared from a diamino compound component containing at least one compound represented by the general formula 1 and a tetracarboxylic dianhydride component and alignment layers made by using the composition: 1 wherein A and B are each independently phenylene wherein one or more hydrogen atoms may be replaced by C1-3 alkyl or alkoxy, and the amino groups on the rings A and B are each independently bonded at position para or meta to the ether linkage.
