To provide an automatic ice maker in which the presence of an ice making tray can be confirmed by a rational means by making the ice making tray removable and attachable.
This automatic ice maker comprises the ice making tray to which water is supplied, a driving part 11 for twisting the ice making tray 4 to separate ice, an ice storage box 5 arranged under the ice making tray 4 to store the ice, and a control part 16 for controlling the driving part 11. This ice maker further comprises an infrared sensor 12 for detecting an infrared ray emitted from the water supplied to the ice making tray 4. The control part 16 comprises a current detection means 17 for detecting the current value supplied to the driving part 11, and determines the removal of the ice making tray 4 when the current detection means 17 does not detect a predetermined current value although the ice making tray 4 is rotated to an ice separating position. According to this, since a switch or the like is dispensed with while the presence of the ice making tray can be surely detected, the cost can be reduced.
