Abstract:

The female contact of the invention is stably retained without overturning in the cross-sectional face direction in a housing. This female contact 1 comprises a socket 10 having a male contact housing space. The socket 10 includes a bottom wall 11 and two side walls 12, and the respective side walls 12 have the side wall main body 12a of the male contact insertion port side and an extension part 12b installed at the neighborhood of the upper end of the down stream end part of this male contact insertion direction. While elastic force is given to the side wall main body 12a, a contact part 12x that can come into contact with a male contact is installed. Because the outer side face spacing with regard to the y direction of the side wall 12 is substantially equal to an inside face spacing of the respectively corresponding housing 40 at the extension part 12b and in the vicinity of the bottom wall 11, when the female contact 1 is stored in the housing 40, the respective extension part 12b and the neighborhood of the connection part of the bottom wall 11 in the side wall main body 12a are nearly contacted with the housing 40, respectively.
