An imaging device 100 includes a content management file storage part 210 storing a content management file recording hierarchical entries. When content is input, the imaging device 100 generates virtual management information for virtually managing the content based on the content, generates metadata related to the content based on the content, records a file entry including the virtual management information in the content management file, and records an metadata entry including the metadata at a lower hierarchical level of the file entries. In the metadata entry recorded at the lower hierarchical level of the file entries, an entry number of the file entry is recorded, while in the file entry recorded at the upper hierarchical level of the metadata entries, an entry number of the metadata entry is recorded.
