To improve the maintainability of constitution components even when an apparatus is made small-sized by reducing unnecessary dead space.

The image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor drum 11, an intermediate transfer belt 15 which temporarily holds a toner image formed on the photoreceptor drum 11, a discharge tray 38 where a form discharged after having an image formed by transferring the toner image from the intermediate transfer belt 15 is stacked, an opening/closing cover 62 which includes the discharge tray 38 and is configured to open the inner side of the apparatus, and a sensor 41 which is provided in an openable state together with the opening/closing cover 62 and measures the toner image transferred to the intermediate transfer belt 15. Then a cartridge 63 including the intermediate transfer belt 15 is loaded and unloaded by rotating the opening/closing cover 62 around a fulcrum 61 of rotation.
