To provide a resin-coated metal sheet for a container which makes the contents be taken out easily and has moldability and adhesion necessary for container processing and a method for producing the metal sheet.
The metal sheet has a resin layer containing a polyester as a main component on both sides. The resin layer to be on the inner surface side of the container after the container is molded contains an olefin resin in an amount of 0.1-5.0 mass% of the resin layer. The olefin resin preferably contains an ethylene-propylene copolymer as a main component. Preferably, in the resin layer, a biaxially oriented polyester film at least 150 m sec in relaxation time T1ρ of 1,4-coordinated benzene-ring carbon atoms in structural analysis by solid high resolution NMR is laminated.
