A DMS 100 comprises a storage section 101 and a network section 102, the storage section 101 being connected by the network section 102 through a PCI bridge 170. A CPU 121 which controls each part of the storage section 101 controls execution of encoding or decoding processing of content data by a predetermined encoding method, or the like. A CPU 151 which control each part of the network section 102 controls execution of encryption or decryption of content data according to a protocol of DTCP-IP (digital transmission content protection over Internet protocol), execution of encoding or decoding processing of data by a coding algorithm of storage local coding, or control of communication processing by TCP/IP associated with transmission and receiving of content data.
