To provide a signature verification technique with improved usability which can authenticate that there is a high possibility that an illegal wave is received even though a signature can not be verified.
The receiver (100) includes a receiving part (110) for receiving a transport stream with a signature and a verification packet for verifying the signature, a generating part (120) for generating a hash value from a transport stream packet, a collation part (142) for collating a hash value included in the next verification packet of the verification packet with the hash value generated by the generating part, and a verifying part (144) for verifying a section from the verification packet to the next verification packet, wherein the verifying part (144) determines the section to be unverifiable when the next verification packet can not be received even though a prescribed time elapses after the reception of the verification packet.
