PURPOSE: To suppress peeling of a ceramic dielectric layer from the surface of an inner electrode and to hardly allow a crack to occur by adding, in addition to a monolithic ceramic capacitor element, water, abrasive compound such as SiC, etc., acid in a pot having a predetermined size, and barrel-polishing it.

CONSTITUTION: A monolithic ceramic capacitor element, water, abrasive compound, SiO2 as medium and further acetic acid solution are added in a pot having a volume of 1 liter in a polishing step. It is then set in a barrel-polishing machine, and polished at a predetermined speed by the machine for a predetermined time. Then, the element is removed from the pot, separated into piecelike monolithic ceramic capacitor elements, and dried with hot air. Thus, after terminal electrodes 3 are applied to both ends of a monolithic ceramic capacitor which is completed for the polishing step, alkaline ions remaining therein are prevented from being vigorously reacted with the water in the case of baking, a ceramic dielectric layer 1 is not peeled from the surface of an inner electrode layer 2 and cracking is eliminated.
