PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device and a vehicle control method for reducing a driver's feeling of discomfort by preventing unnecessary deceleration of an own vehicle.SOLUTION: A driving support ECU 20 includes: a first acquisition part 21 for acquiring forward information in a front side of a vehicle in a travel direction; a second acquisition part 22 for acquiring a turning state information that occurs a turning operation of the vehicle; a determination part 25 for determining whether to decelerate the vehicle on a curve road on the basis of the forward information or the turning state information; a self-confidence degree acquisition part 26 for acquiring a self-confidence degree of deceleration determination being determination in the case of decelerating the vehicle of the determination part 25 on the basis of the forward information or the turning state information; and a deceleration setting part 27 for setting a target deceleration for decelerating the vehicle on the basis of the self-confidence degree.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
