Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a flashing discharge tube which can materialize the significant improvement in a high heat resistance property and a high thermal shock resistance property, and which can be formed inexpensively; a method for manufacturing the flashing discharge tube; and a strobe device with the flashing discharge tube.SOLUTION: A flashing discharge tube 1 is configured so that a pair of discharge electrodes consisting of an anode A and a cathode C are air-tightly sealed at both ends of a light transmissive envelope 2 with a xenon gas 3 filled in the envelope. The envelope 2 is formed by aluminosilicate glass. Of the discharge electrodes, at least the cathode C is air-tightly sealed in the aluminosilicate glass tube so as to have an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of the aluminosilicate glass tube, by locally heat-melting only a second end vicinity including a cathode bead 5 formed on an electrode pin and a second end of the aluminosilicate glass tube and thus causing the second end to sink into a substantially central portion of a side face of the cathode bead 5 to form a concave portion in the substantially central portion of the side face of the cathode bead 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
