Provided are: a method whereby an insert metal spur gear at a temperature equal to or less than a mold temperature is inserted into a mold without preheating of the insert metal gear to a predetermined temperature, and the metal spur gear is then rapidly heated; a technical means for dramatically increasing yield of a hybrid gear by a method for automating an insert molding process; and a hybrid spur gear having strength, wear resistance, and durability exceeding the application limits of the same type of spur gear made from a resin. [Solution] An insert molding method characterized by comprising inserting and loading an insert metal spur gear in a predetermined position in a mold set to a predetermined temperature, the insert metal spur gear being at a temperature lower than the mold temperature, then heating the surface of the insert metal spur gear through use of a rapid heating mechanism and stopping the heating at the time that the surface temperature of the insert metal spur gear reaches a predetermined temperature in the range from the mold temperature to a molten resin temperature, injection molding or extrusion molding a molten resin in the mold at the same time the heating is stopped, and coating the surface of the insert metal spur gear with the resin to mold a hybrid spur gear.
