Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound, by reacting one aldehyde with another aldehyde in the presence of aldehyde dismutase by cross disproportionate reaction, carrying out simultaneously oxidation and reduction without adding a coenzyme.
CONSTITUTION: An aldehyde shown by the formula RCHO (R is H, alkyl, alkenyl, or acyl) is reacted with an aldehyde shown by the formula R'CHO (R' is as shown for R but different from R) in the presence of aldehyde dismutase, to give a carboxylic acid shown by the formula RCOOH and/or an alcohol shown by the formula R'CH2OH.
USE: Suitable for a bioreactor using an immobilized mold by packing method.
