To provide a new ligand producible by a simple production method, giving a bimetallic axially asymmetric compound having a single structure by finally introducing a chiral from an exterior source, usable in multiple kinds of asymmetric catalytic reactions and having high reaction activity and stereo-selectivity and to provide a method for synthesizing the ligand.
There are provided a 2,2',6,6'-tetrahydroxy-3,3',5,5'-tetrasubstituted biphenyl ligand expressed by formula (1) (wherein R is alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or halogen), and a method for producing the 2,2',6,6'-tetrahydroxy-3,3',5,5'-tetrasubstituted biphenyl ligand by reacting an ether-containing biphenyl derivative synthesized by Suzuki coupling or Ullmann coupling reaction with a dealkylation agent.
