To solve the problem of being unable to receive the full benefit of the abrasion life of an abrasion resistant chip, since separation of the abrasion resistant chip, and crack damage and bending of an abrasion resistant plate are caused, if a metallic plate is deformed by deformation or thermal expansion of the metallic plate due to difference in stiffness between the abrasion resistant chip and the metallic plate when brazing the abrasion resistant chip such as a cemented carbide chip, cermet chip or ceramics chip to the metallic plate.
An abrasion resistant plate in which an abrasion resistant chip is integrated with the metallic plate, can be manufactured without reducing a stiffness of the metallic plate by brazing after inserting the abrasion resistant chips into a plurality of grooves formed on the metallic plate, while applying copper plating to the abrasion resistant chip. Brazing of a used cutting tip with the metallic plate becomes possible by performing copper-plating in a copper fluoride bath without peeling a hardening film of the used cutting tip, and the used cutting tip can be used as a substitute for the abrasion resistant chip. Thus, since the inexpensive used cutting tip can be reused, cost of the abrasion resistant plate can be reduced.
