To provide a device and a method capable of predicting an adaptation point and a perception color while taking into consideration the observation environmental light, an image screen size of a display device and an observation distance when observing a liquid crystal display and the other display device.
In order to predict the adaptation point of a visual sense system when observing the display device, a display device adaptation point is predicted from a measured color value of a white point of the display device, the image screen size and the observation distance, and an observation environment adaptation point is predicted from a measured color value of the observation environmental light, and the adaptation point while taking into consideration an influence of the observation environmental light by display is predicted from the predicted display device adaptation point, the observation environment adaptation point, the image screen size and the observation distance. In order to predict a perception color of a display image, the adaptation point used for predicting the perception color is predicted from the predicted adaptation point, and the perception color of the display image is predicted.
