Abstract:

To provide a medicament capable of preventing vascular restenosis.

The agent for inhibiting the intimal thickening comprises an active factor selected from the group consisting of (a) a pigment epithelium-originated factor, (b) a variant of the factor, having functionally equal characteristics as the pigment epithelium-originated factor (a), (c) a nucleic acid molecule encoding the factor (a) or the variant (b), and (d) a vector containing the nucleic acid molecule (c). The agent for inhibiting the intimal thickening can also be used as the vascular restenosis-preventing agent.
